Gifts
It's a Japanese tradition to take gifts when you visit someone's home and as we hope to arrange to visit a home for the tea ceremony, we need to be prepared with some little presents. Also, for any other personal help that we may get I'd like to have some small Canadian souvenirs to offer. We might enlist locals to take us on a walking tour of Hiroshima. I have a number to phone and arrange this. So I've purchased a number of trinkets, some First Nations beaded purses, Maple Leaf lapel pins, totem pole keyrings.......this all sounds so tacky. But I have some little gift bags and maybe it'll be ok. I can't carry smoked salmon or chocolates!
